A sacked Iceland worker has appeared in
Wrexham Magistrates' Court after a forklift 'revenge attack'.
The court heard that Jake Sharpe went on a
forklift truck rampage in a warehouse after being suspended from his job.
Police were dispatched to the Iceland
warehouse in Deeside after reports that someone was "trying to run over
staff whilst driving a forklift truck".
It is understood that Sharpe had been told
moments before the incident that his bosses were suspending him from work.
According to witnesses, he swore at his supervisor and threatened that “you'll
have to get police here to remove me".
Sharpe then got into the forklift and drove
towards security staff in the warehouse with his middle finger raised.
The driver eventually stopped and gave
himself up to authorities.
He accepted responsibility for this
dangerous behavior at the trial and pledged to turn his life around before
being sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year; 90 hours of unpaid
work; and a payment of GBP200 (USD250) compensation.
