Scandanavian shipping and logistics company
Wallenius Wilhelmsen has expanded its fleet in the United States with nine
units from Kalmar.
The order is for four heavy electric
forklifts, two electric reachstackers and three heavy terminal tractors.
“This order … represents the first sales of our electric reachstacker
and heavy electric forklift to a customer in the USA,” says Kalmar Global
Service Solutions Vice President Svante Alverönn.
The order, which also includes the Kalmar
Insight fleet performance management tool, was booked in Cargotec’s fourth
quarter 2023 order intake.
The order is part of Wallenius Wilhelmsen
clean fleet initiative of reducing its onshore logistics emissions with new equipment
which is, where practicable, zero emission.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen head of supplier and
contract management Ove Moring says: “Our two companies have benefitted from a
partnership that stretches back more
than three decades.
"This new agreement to renew our
cargo-handling equipment with fully electric and more eco-efficient machines is
an important step supporting our clean fleet initiative in the US.”
